Menopause and Tingling Sensations is another of those strange, but not necessarily uncommon, symptoms of menopause. Formally known as Paresthesia, it is a feeling of numbness and a pins and needles sensation, often felt in the fingers, toes, arms, legs, and hands.
This symptom normally happens to women during menopause and post menopause and apart from it being unpleasant and annoying to some women, fortunately most cases of Tingling Sensations are nothing more serious. It can make some women feel off balance when walking or coming downstairs, due to numbness and sometimes you can lose the ability to grip things or do more delicate jobs if your fingers are tingling or numb. In some cases, women can experience a burning sensation, if the nerves are pinched or joints compressed.

What causes Tingling Sensations?
If you have noticed pins and needles in your hands and feet and maybe it has become more frequent, and occasional numbness and tingling in your legs or arms, you could be suffering with Tingling Sensations. This is caused by hormone fluctuation levels, mainly Oestrogen, as it has a great effect on our nervous system, so if thrown off balance, produces tingling sensations and numbing symptoms. If you are unsure that the menopause is the cause of your symptoms, always speak to your GP to rule out any other medical conditions.

Cold hands and feet:
Another hormonal imbalance that lots of women can suffer with at this time is cold hands and feet. Again, this is down to the fluctuating levels of Oestrogen affecting our circulation throughout the body, causing our temperature to drop, resulting in us suffering with cold extremities.

What can you do to ease Tingling Sensations?
- Lifestyle Changes – change your diet, eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, especially avocados, and lots of proteins, fish is great and can help provide all the nutrients, minerals, and fatty acids you need.
- Exercise – is great for treating Tingling Sensations as it promotes good circulation and is good for stress relief. Yoga and Pilates are a good choice of exercise to help with this.

- Massage – Aromatic oils and massage can help with this symptom, giving relief to the areas most affected by this symptom.
Things to help with Tingling Sensations:
- Establish a good sleep routine, try to sleep for 8 hours if possible.

- Try breathing exercises and relaxation music.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol.
- Drink lots of water.
- Avoid smoking.
- Self-care.
